April has finally arrived with the promise of warmer, longer days.
March reminded us that Summer was on the way. Now we know that the longer days are here and the dark Winter days are finally over. April brings our Winter Wellbeing Challenge to its conclusion. We began our challenge way back in September, when we took on the challenges of Eat Well. Our challenge for October was Stay Active. Sleep Well was our aim in November. Connect with Others challenged us in December. Begin Doing was our January choice. Feel Good was our February challenge. And March for us was our Fresh Air challenge. The final challenge that we will undertake is Switch Off and Relax in April.
And we have learned and hopefully put into practice the many tips and words of advice during these months to help us to stay healthy in all aspects of our lives.
In April, our expert who will guide us through the whole concept of Switch Off and Relax and why it is so necessary for our overall health and wellbeing is Vivian Brodie Hayes. Vivian is very involved with Wexford MHA and is our go to expert on all things to do with relaxation.
Let’s all take Vivian’s advice and Switch Off and Relax in April!
Vivian’s top tips include:
- Make time to think about what you truly enjoy
- Make conscious decisions to spend some time every day away from screens
- Make time to engage in a fun hobby
- Learn deep breathing exercises
- Get your body moving
- Go outside
- Take a long bath
- Enjoy a relaxing shower
- Listen to music
- Ask others what they do to switch off and relax
