The Expressions Competition has had six years of success and we are delighted to announce that this year’s competition will take place again this year and will be once again be a virtual competition due to COVID 19 restrictions.
The project will focus as usual on the theme ‘‘Positive mental health is…’’ and applications will be open to young people across County Wexford between 15 & 18 years of age (minimum of 3 students per team).
The idea is that students would express their opinions and views on what they think positive mental health is, by creative writing, artwork, drama, poetry, etc., and create a small video of no more than 5 minutes duration.
The closing date for receipt of entries is Friday 12th November.
We will be making some changes to the format of the competition this year. There will be no live performances, the judges will be basing their scores solely on the video received and there will be no questions and answers with the judging panel.
Feedback will be provided by the judges to all of the entrants.
The prize category has also been changed as follows:
- There will be a prize of €100 for the best piece overall.
- There will be 6 additional prizes of €50 for the best videos in each of the following categories:
- Best video in terms of creativity
- Evidence of teamwork
- Knowledge and understanding of topic of positive mental health
- Best original video
- Best video with positive message that can help other young people
- Special adjudicators award
Thanks to Wexford Credit Union for sponsoring this wonderful competition again this year.
All of the winning entries will be posted on Wexford Mental Health Association’s website and social media accounts.
We would hope that schools and youth groups would like to get involved in this great event.
We also would like to remind each entrant, to use their own discretion in relation to COVID 19 public health guidelines.
