Expressions Competition 2016

An excellent day was had by all at the Expressions Competition in the Riverside Park Hotel in Enniscorthy on 11th October.

The competition focused on the theme of ‘Positive mental health is…..’ . The competition was open to all transition year students in County Wexford. Students gave their interpretation of positive mental health by creative writing, artwork, drama, poetry, etc. They got the opportunity to present their work to a judging panel followed by a prize giving cer…emony.

The project was sponsored by Allied Training, Wexford Chamber of Commerce and Wexford Credit Union and supported by Riverside park hotel Enniscorthy, Pettit’s SUPERVALU, ARI and HSE.
The winning projects were as follows:

1st – Colaiste Abainn – Scare way the dark. Wonderful presentation that incorporated Multi-media display using drama, visual display, music and technology. The project was presented by Anthony Finn,
Lisa Hammerl, Megan Butler and Laura Dunne.

2nd – Ramsgrange Community – Lights Camera Action Smile. Project was presented by Serena White and Mairead O’Brien. Leon Leonard and Daniel Flynn also worked on the project. Project highlights the importance of simple acts of kindness in the school environment and the effect it has on our lives as a knock on effect. This was portrayed in a short film. They got the entire school involved in their project by displaying a large poster in their school and invited the entire school to write positive messages.

3rd – Presentation Secondary School – Megan Dempsey – inspiring speech on Positive Mental Health

All of the eight projects demonstrated different aspects of positive mental health and the huge commitment from the schools involved was very evident. A huge thanks to all the students, teachers, schools for getting involved in this project

Well done and thanks to all involved.
